B R Ambedkar Bihar University initially known as Bihar University was founded in the year 1952 after being separated from the Patna University. It is located in Muzaffarpur a city in northern Bihar.
The university is far from the capital Patna. In the year 1960, the university got bifurcated into three University mainly Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, Ranchi University, Bhagalpur University. Again in the year 1961, it was bifurcated into Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and Magadh University, Bodh Gaya. Again in the year 1973, the university was bifurcated into Bihar Universityniversity, Muzaffarpur.
The University holds its reputation in Bihar especially for programs in business administration and the most popular MBA College is L N Mishra
